Separate the Body from the Head

Separate the Body from the Head

by Mel Olive

Photography is a medium I have recently begun to use for my store telling. Writing brought its fulfillment but photography brings some other element of "realness" or truth to my vision. I have always been inthralled with the idea of truth or finding one that satisfies me; which then lead me to portraiture and the world of the human face. Portraits on film I decided bring more rawness to every hair in motion, flicker of light in the eye, and every candid street walker; timeless. This is also why I choose to do light editing with my photos, leaving them natural. So here in my portraits I aim for something transcendent or perhaps mysterious in these unique few I have had the pleasure of working with.

The meaning of things lies not in the things themselves, but in our attitude towards them.
